In accordance with Ontario Energy Board ("OEB") regulatory policy, Horizon Utilities is providing its 2015 scorecard to customers on our web site. This scorecard is accompanied by management discussion and analysis that explains the scorecard results. These measures will give valuable insight into how well Horizon Utilities is performing each year relative to measures determined by the regulatory body, the OEB.

The scorecard has been developed to provide customers with a better sense of how well their utility is performing, and will be posted annually. The 2015 results for Horizon Utilities is provided below and is also available on the OEB's website.  Horizon Utilities is pleased to comply with OEB requirements to operate effectively, while continually seeking ways to improve productivity, focus and customer value.

Ontario Energy Board Notice to Customers of Horizon Utilities Corporation
Horizon Utilities Corporation has applied to the Ontario Energy Board to decrease the amount it charges by $0.17 each month for the typical residential customer beginning on January 1, 2017. Other customers, including businesses, may be affected as well.

The requested rate decrease is based on a framework approved by the Ontario Energy Board for the period 2015 to 2019 and is tied to costs for 2017 which include measures to promote efficiency.

Horizon Utilities Corporation a déposé une requête auprès de la Commission de l'énergie de l'Ontario en vue de réduire ses tarifs d’environ 0,17 $ pour le consommateurs résidentiel moyen à compter du 1er janvier 2017. D’autres clients, don’t des entreprises, pourraient aussi être touchés.

The Ontario Energy Board (OEB) has now issued its Notice of Application and Hearing relating to the proposed merger of Horizon Utilities, Enersource, and PowerStream and the acquisition of Hydro One Brampton.

April 15, 2016

The proposal to merge Enersource, Horizon Utilities and PowerStream was submitted to the Ontario Energy Board (OEB) for its consideration on April 15, 2016.

Shareholders are looking to merge the three electrical utilities and subsequently purchase the assets of Hydro One Brampton from the Ontario government. The regulatory approval application –known as MAADs (Mergers, Acquisitions, Amalgamations and Divestitures) – was submitted today by the shareholders of Enersource (City of Mississauga and Borealis), Horizon Utilities (cities of Hamilton and St. Catharines) and PowerStream (cities of Barrie, Markham and Vaughan). The merger of these utilities also has a legal agreement to jointly purchase the assets of Hydro One Brampton from the Ontario Government. It is anticipated that the approval process will take approximately six months.

Horizon Utilities Corporation filed its first annual filing to its Custom Incentive Rate application with the Ontario Energy Board on August 12, 2015 under section 78 of the Ontario Energy Board Act, 1998 as amended, for approval of its electricity distribution rates and other charges, to be effective January 1, 2016.  The Board issued its Decision on the application on December 10, 2015 and approved Horizon Utilities' 2016 rates on December 22, 2015.

Horizon Utilities Corporation filed a Custom Incentive Rate ("CIR") application with the Ontario Energy Board (the "Board") on April 17, 2014 under section 78 of the Ontario Energy Board Act,1998, S.O. 1998,c.15,(Schedule B) (the "Act"), seeking approval for changes to the rates that Horizon Utilities charges for electricity distribution, to be effective January 1, 2015 and each year thereafter until December 31, 2019.  The Board issued its Decision on the application on December 11, 2014 and its decision on rates January 8, 2015.

Horizon Utilities Corporation filed an application on August 5, 2014, with the Ontario Energy Board under section 74 of the Ontario Energy Board Act, 1998 for an order of the Board to amend Horizon Utilities' licensed service area in Schedule 1 of its electricity distribution licence ED-2006-0031.
