Appliances Safety

  • When purchasing any electrical appliance or light bulb please make sure that it has a valid UL (Underwriters Laboratories Inc.) and/or CSA (Canadian Standards Association) approval label attached. Certification verifies that the product is inspected, tested and labeled during production. If the appliance has no approval label it could cause a fire or shock hazard. Be aware, be safe!

  • CSA Special Inspection approval or Electrical Safety Authority Special Inspection approval
  • Keep appliances clean and in good working order.
  • Never handle electrical appliances or equipment with wet hands or while standing on wet ground.
  • If you're going to be away for a long time, unplug appliances to prevent damage from possible power surges.
  • If you buy used appliances make sure they are still electrically safe.
