Please note that customers are not required to have a Retail Contract. They can continue to receive energy services based on Standard Supply Service through Horizon Utilities.

Questions to Ask Retailers

If approached at their door or over the phone, customers should ask the following questions of a retailer:

What is the price being offered?
Does this price include the following: electrical energy, transmission & distribution charges, debt reduction charges, market operation charges (regulatory charges)?
Are there any other fees?
Will I continue to receive the Ontario Power Generation (OPG ) rebate?
What charge will be levied if I terminate this retailer contract early?
How long is the contract?
When will the contract take effect?
What will happen to the contract when time-of-use rates come into effect?
