Horizon Utilities recently received a much-deserved President's Award for 250,000 hours worked without a lost time injury. The award was presented in December 2006 to members of the Horizon Utilities Joint Health & Safety Committee at the company's St. Catharines location. Bruce Clements, a representative of the Electrical and Utilities Safety Association (E&USA), presented the award.

The award recognizes the strong commitment of all Horizon employees to maintaining a safe and healthy workplace. "Horizon Utilities uses an extensive team-based approach to making the utility a safe place to work. Our team approach and our emphasis on managing safety performance have contributed significantly to the achievement of this award", said John Leyland, Healthy Workplace Manager.
