Commercial Services/General Services: Customer-Owned Transformation

Horizon Utilities offers the following commercial services (General Services) from the primary distribution system requiring customer-owned transformation on the customer's property:

  • Greater than 1600A 347/600V three phase
  • Greater than 2000A 120/208V three phase

Transformer

Primary Cable Ductbank on Private Property

The customer will be responsible for the supply and installation of a concrete-encased duct structure conforming to Horizon Utilities' standards 3U-341 and 3U-343.

The transformer foundation, ground grid and duct structure installation must pass inspection by Horizon Utilities. Inspections can be scheduled with the Manager of Outside Contractors at 905-540-3234, three(3) business days prior to the start of construction.

Provision for Metering

Horizon Utilities must approve the meter location before any equipment is installed. To request a Service Layout, please complete the Service Application Form or call our Service Locators at 905-317-4746.

The metering equipment must conform to the Horizon Utilities standard applicable to the service:

27-11 Transformer Type Switchboard Metering: 800A-4000A 347/600V or 2000A-4000A 120/208V
27-13 Multiple Service Switchboard/Meter Centre: 400A-4000A Supply

Service Entrance Equipment

The customer will be responsible for forwarding switchgear drawings to Horizon Utilities prior to manufacture. Horizon Utilities requires reviewing clearance for the installation of the instrument transformers.
