Your business may qualify for up to
$1,000 in free energy upgrades.

Horizon Utilities, in partnership with the Ontario Power Authority, offers our small business customers up to $1,000 in money-saving energy retrofits under the Power Savings Blitz program. The program is completely voluntary. There is no obligation, there are no strings attached.

Here is how it works – 3 easy steps

1. An authorized energy advisor will contact you to make an appointment to visit your business and conduct an energy assessment. You will receive recommendations for retrofits.

2. If you agree, a licensed electrical contractor will make an appointment to complete your retrofit with a value of up to $1,000 and a minimum of $300 at your convenience. This includes all parts and labour. You don't pay a cent.

3. Call Power Savings Blitz Hotline at 1-877-331-1115 today and book appointment.

QUICK FACTS

What type of work will they do?

Typical retrofits include replacing older inefficient lighting systems with energy efficient lighting and installing insulating blankets on electric water heaters. As a result of these retrofits, customers will usually see energy savings of up to $400 per year.

Why is Horizon Utilities giving away $1,000 in energy saving retrofits?
These kinds of upgrades take old energy-hogging lighting and other inefficient equipment out of the system. For you, the customer, it means lower operating costs.

For all of us, it reduces the amount of electricity that has to be generated, which helps contribute to a cleaner, greener environment for our community and our province. Power Savings Blitz is part of an overall plan to create a culture of conservation in our province.

What types of businesses are eligible for the $1,000 retrofit?

The program is offered to small businesses such as small retailers, dry cleaners, medical offices and beauty salons with annual electricity demand of approximately 50kW or less.

What if the identified projects amount to over $1,000?

In some cases, we'll find opportunities for savings where the total cost of the retrofit is over $1,000. You have a choice here. You can ask that only $1,000 worth of retrofitting be done, and there is no cost for the work.

Or, you can ask for the bigger project to be completed, and we'll pay the first $1,000 while you are responsible for paying for the rest. The benefit to you is that you'll see bigger ongoing savings on your electrical bill.

Many of our customers have taken advantage of the opportunity and had projects completed beyond the $1,000 incentive. However, there is absolutely no pressure for you to approve bigger projects.
